Some of the most important words a writer pens are to review others’ books. In the picture book world, it has been my experience that we all want each other to succeed - that mutual support is more important than competition. (OK -that may not apply so much to the Awards Season…)
Then there are the Back Cover endorsements. Bigger than a review, these are words that will appear on the back of the book forever (or until reprinting). The back cover endorsement also appears as the editorial reviews on Amazon and many other sales sites. They are the first words anyone has to say about a book.
Inviting another author to write an endorsement for the back cover is a scary thing. I know my sister, a nurse, or my accountant friend would say nice things, but the reality is, the opinions of well-known endorsers will grab more attention.
I was fortunate to have built relationships with many Christian and picture book authors and grateful for these back cover endorsements:
"With soft, inviting illustrations, simple text, and a heart-warming repeating refrain, this cumulative-style Christmas retelling is a delight to read and a sure-to-please addition to your family’s Christmas book collection." —Laura Sassi, author of multiple books for young children including the My Tender Heart series, Faithful Feet, Goodnight Manger and more
"Leave it to Robin Currie to create a Moo-ving rendition of the Christmas story, filled with a cacophony of sounds, to celebrate our newborn King in a whole new way. An absolutely fresh Nativity read for families everywhere!" —Nancy Tupper Ling, children's author and poet
"Using an economy of well-chosen words, Robin Currie presents the familiar Nativity tale in a heartwarming, humorous, relatable way. Featuring a cat and dog at the manger, alongside other traditional animals, Just Enough Room for Christmas takes all that is good and lovely and warm about the Christmas story and offers readers a new perspective. I dare you to read this book without smiling!" —Glenys Nellist, award-winning author of over 40 titles, including the bestselling Twas the Evening of Christmas and Snuggle Time Christmas Stories
”A perfect way for young children to experience the nativity story. Fun, comforting, and awe-inspiring.” Amy Houts, author of Noah's Ark and The Creation
Counting down to Sept 2!
