Professional Bio:

The REAL AUTHOR Kathleen writes:
I have always enjoyed writing, from having my poetry published in school newspapers, corresponding with a pen pal in Morocco in elementary school, writing letters to family, friends, and my future husband on a month-long high school trip to Western Europe, and being hired on as a contributing editor for a local community focus magazine, where I worked for 15 years. During that time, I also had my own bi-monthly “Arts in this City” column in the local newspaper. I loved being able to interview artists, authors, collectors, educators, and performers and making them proud of their accomplishments.
But it was always my wish to one day write a children’s book that would be available in the Toronto Public Library. Well, that wish eventually came true, but not until I had helped to raise a son and daughter and retired from the Toronto Public School Board as a Special Education Teacher’s Assistant after 29 years. Now I have four children’s books in circulation in libraries across Canada and also in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the USA. I am proof that you are never too old to achieve your dreams!
When I am not writing or reading books, I love to travel, practice yoga, golf, sing in a community choir, knit, watercolor paint, and spend time with friends and family. I also tutor an SK student and am a volunteer reader with IBBY Canada’s (International Board on Books for Youth) Reading with Newcomer Children program. Author visits to schools, libraries, and other venues are also events that I enjoy.
